NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Aug. 5, 2019) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuel) Airman Gunnar Conley, from Lauriaburg, North Carolina, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) air department, extracts jet propellant-5 to check for debris during a fuels transfer evolution in the ship's JP-5 pump room. Ford is currently undergoing its post-shakedown availability at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding.
