Senior Citizens from the City of Boise Parks and Recreation’s Lifetime and Leisure program were introduced to the Idaho National Guard Base on Gowen Field. The Lifetime and Leisure Activities are social, educational and fitness related programs for adults age 62 and older. Transportation is provided from three of the Boise City Community Centers to many of the programs. The Idaho National Guard conducts regularly scheduled community tours for visitors of all ages. Visitors are given tours of the Army National Guard and Air National Guard facilities stretched out acorss Gowen Field. The tours encompass the Army National Guards Regional Training Institute where soldiers learn how to maintain the M1A1 Abrams Tanks and the Bradley Fighting Vehicles. On the Air National Guard side visitors are introduced to the A-10 Thunderbolt and supporting functions.
