Marines assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron VMM-261 (Reinforced), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct flight phase maintenance on a CH-53 helicopter in the hangar of the USS Iwo Jima, April 27, 2012, as part of routine maintenance schedule to keep the aircraft properly functioning. The 24th MEU, partnered with the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, is deployed as a theater reserve and crisis response force capable of a variety of missions from full-scale combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
