190819-N-YC738-0119 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (Aug. 19, 2019) – The USS Utah Memorial remains where it was hit by two torpedoes on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941. Sailors selected to become chief petty officers learn about Navy heritage, including USS Utah (BB-31/AG-16), while living aboard Battleship Missouri Memorial during Chief Petty Officer Legacy Academy. The Battleship Missouri Memorial Chief Petty Officer Legacy Academy is one of several live-aboard chief petty officer legacy academies around the Navy. These legacy academies provide an opportunity for Sailors selected to become chief petty officers to live Navy heritage.
