KINGS BAY, Ga. (August 29, 2019) Cmdr. Jon Schaffner (right), outgoing commanding officer, USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) (Gold), salutes Capt. Craig Gummer (center), Commodore, Submarine Squadron 20, as he is relieved of his duty as commanding officer during a change of command ceremony held at the chapel onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga. Cmdr. Matthew Luff relieved Schaffner who assumed command of Tennessee (Gold) March 2017. Tennessee is one of five ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.
