U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Van McCarty, the adjutant general for South Carolina, provided an update on the South Carolina National Guard in response to Hurricane Dorian during a press conference with South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, Sept. 1, 2019. Approximately 1,000 South Carolina National Guard Soldiers and Airmen have reported to their units throughout the state to provide support to state partners. The South Carolina National Guard is ready to support the counties and first responders with whatever resources they need for as long as needed before, during, and after the impact of Hurricane Dorian to South Carolina.
