U.S. Army Maj. Jeff Ashburn, an emergency physician, provides instruction on using an ultrasound on a live patient during Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST) protocol during a new familiarization and validation program at the Fort Bliss Medical Simulation Center. Participants rotated through seven scenario as part of the new program developed by WBAMC staff. Each scenario uses several Individual Critical Task List (ICTL) items to measure the clinical readiness of health care providers to better support battlefield medicine and validate medical personnel for future deployments.
