The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) is pierside in Naples, Italy, while crew members perform mission-critical maintenance April 29, 2012. New York and embarked Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit were deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
