The badge of an assistant fire chief for Fort Riley's Directorate of Emergency Services is banded in black as a sign of remembrance for the fallen fire fighters on Sept. 11, 2001. Fort Riley firefighters, DES Police, military police and first responders from Junction City, Geary County and Riley County, Kansas, were present during a ceremony at Fort Riley's Global War on Terror remembering the nearly 3,000 civilians and military personnel.
