Recently-Identified Pearl Harbor Sailor Laid to Rest in His Hometown

190914-N-NU281-1223 EL DORADO, Kansas (Sept. 14, 2019) Capt. James Mehail presents the National Ensign to Joe Bitner, great nephew and next of kin of U.S. Navy Seaman 2nd Class Wilbur Clayton Barrett, a Sailor killed in the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 aboard the USS Oklahoma, during military funeral honors held in Barrett's hometown of El Dorado, Kansas. In 2015, the Navy exhumed the unidentified remains of 380 Sailors and Marines lost aboard the Oklahoma, to identify them using DNA analysis so they could be returned to their families.
