Army Pfc. Trevor Turk, a paratrooper assigned to Blackfoot Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army Alaska, makes notes while notionally calling in a nine-line MEDEVAC for a simulated combat casualty during a platoon competition at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 17, 2019. Meant to reinforce unit cohesion and conducted under stressful conditions, the competition consisted of multiple stations that evaluated each platoon’s radio operation, call for fire, simulated casualty care, enemy assets identification and basic weapon proficiency.
