U.S. Marine Capt. Darrin McElroy, a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter pilot with Special Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, watches as a CH-53E lands on the flight deck of the USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) during deck qualifications in the Atlantic Ocean Sept. 17, 2019. Deck qualifications will certify the pilots to perform ship-to-shore operations, enhancing the capabilities of the task force. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects hand-in-hand with partner nation military members in Latin America and the Caribbean during their deployment to the region, which coincides with hurricane season.
