A Vietnamese sampan, captured in 1968 by US Navy riverine forces, undergoes final surface cleaning and consolidation by Karl Knauer and Abigail Preston with the Naval History and Heritage Command’s Conservation Branch. The sampan is part of a larger exhibit at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The exhibit, “The Ten Thousand Day War at Sea: the US Navy in Vietnam, 1950-1975” is scheduled to open on October 9, 2019.
