Members from Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Hampton Roads prepare to release a buoy to replace a fixed piling in the Lynnhaven Inlet, near Virginia Beach, Sept. 23, 2019. In a joint operation, the Coast Guard and the Army Corps of Engineers are replacing concrete pilings with buoys in order to make the waterway safer for the local boating community of Virginia Beach. The buoys are more easily maintained and can be repositioned if shoaling makes the waterway more shallow. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen Lehmann.
