    SASEBO, Japan (Sept. 26, 2019) Indian Navy Rear Adm. Suraj Berry, NM, VSM, Commander, Eastern Fleet; Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Rear Adm. Masafumi Nishiwaki, Commander, Escort Flotilla Four; and Rear Adm. Jimmy Pitts, Commander Submarine Group 7 join a multinational group of sailors for a photo during the MALABAR 2019 opening ceremony. Malabar is an annual multinational maritime exercise started in 1992 with the U.S. and Indian navies and most recently including the JMSDF, to increase cooperation among allied and partner nations in the Indo Pacific.
