Sailors from the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard participate in a wreath-laying procession as part of the USS Thresher National Commemorative Monument Dedication Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, Sept. 26, 2019. On April 10, 1963, the USS Thresher sank east of Boston, Massachusetts, killing all 129 crew and shipyard personnel aboard. This incident, the deadliest submarine disaster ever, led to the implementation of a rigorous submarine safety program known as SUBSAFE. The USS Thresher Commemorative Monument is located in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery on Roosevelt Drive. (U.S. Army photo by Elizabeth Fraser / Arlington National Cemetery / released)
