U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Johnathan DeRosa, with the Security Cooperation Task Force Africa Partnership Station (APS) 2012 ground combat element, awaits the arrival of personnel and equipment during a ship-to-shore training operation May 8, 2012, at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The training was designed to familiarize the Marines with specialized tactics for their upcoming deployment to Africa. APS is an international security cooperation initiative facilitated by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and collaborative activities in order to improve maritime safety and security in Africa.
