U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Laurence Budge smiles during KAMANDAG 3 at Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 9, 2019. U.S. Forces have been partnering with the Philippines for many years, working together in many areas to uphold our shared goals of peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. Budge, a native of Salt Lake City, is an a-gunner with 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion. KAMANDAG 3 is a Philippine-led, bilateral exercise with participation from Japan. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries. “Before I joined, I spent two years living in Pangasinnan," Budge said. "Coming here for KAMANDAG is like coming home.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Harrison Rakhshani)
