Humanitarian and civic assistance activities enable our service members to develop personal relationships and provide support to local communities. KAMANDAG 3 is a Philippine-led, bilateral exercise with participation from Japan. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries. Aoki is the commander of the JGSDF Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade and Rock is the commander of 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and the deputy commander of III Marine Expeditionary Force.
