ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 6, 2019) A Scan Eagle unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), attached to the expeditionary sea base USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB 3), is launched by an MK 4 from the flight deck while underway. Scan Eagle provides capabilities ranging from intelligence and reconnaissance to surveillance flight capabilities. Lewis B. Puller is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
