Crane Army Ammunition Activity Commander Col. Steve Dondero and Engineer Technician Kaleb Bratton discuss the production system for red smoke mortars. Shane Dougherty, CAAA explosives handler, seals the packaging containing the mortar. The Department of Defense selected Crane Army to provide the Marines with a renewed stock of mortars after they lost 75 percent of their total mortar stock. CAAA quickly developed a plan to set up production lines and increase munitions readiness within two weeks.
