United States Marine Corps Capt. Jack Young, left, of Gonzales, La., and Gunnery Sgt. Tarwoe, who was born in Liberia, died from wounds suffered in combat in Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 12. At the time of his death, Tarwoe was deployed from 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Young and Jordan are members of Operation Onward Liberty, a U.S. military mentor mission that is developing capacity within the Armed Forces of Liberia. Young is deployed from 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Lejuene, N.C., and Jordan is deployed from 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
