191019-N-XK887-1076 DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory (Oct. 19, 2019) Construction Electrician Constructionman George Feldmann, from Cincinnati, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detachment Diego Garcia, waits outside the Officer’s Club for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation 24-mile bike ride across Diego Garcia to begin. Participation in the bike ride enhanced the Seabee relationships with the locals and military forces on island. The event was open to local civilian contractors, British Forces, U.S. Air Force, and other U.S. Navy personnel attached to Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
