Flowers bloom aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., under the care of the Natural Resources Division of the Environmental Maintenance Department. Certain plants within the garden have been able to maintain blooms year-round because of the expertise of botanist JoEllen Kassebaum, a member of the air station’s environmental department. The entire MCAS Miramar environmental team was recognized for their conservation efforts in the Secretary of the Navy Fiscal Year 2011 Conservation Awards. The team will receive the Natural Resources Conservation Award in Washington, D.C., June 5.
