Gunnery Sgt. John S. Mosser, center, salutes while the national anthem plays during a ceremony in which Mosser was awarded the Gunnery Sergeant John A. Basilone Award for Courage and Commitment at Camp Schwab May 3. Since 2004, the Marine Corps has awarded the Basilone award to a noncommissioned officer who upholds the ultimate attributes of honor, courage and commitment. Mosser is a platoon sergeant with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
