MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. —Cpl. Jiaming Zhu, the motor transport dispatch chief with Headquarters Company, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, recently directed the dispatch and quality control of the Regiment’s Motor-T section in preparation for MAGTAF Warfighting Exercise (MWX) 1-20, the largest force-on-force exercise the Division has conducted in over three decades.
“Dispatch is the heart of the motor-T shop,” Zhu said.
As a dispatcher, Cpl. Zhu is responsible for deploying Marines and vehicles effectively to support missions and daily operations. He maintains records and performs operation checks on vehicles in the motor pool.
But Zhu said without the Marines who are the “blood” of the operation, the shop wouldn’t run smoothly.
“Care about your Marines— not just the Marines below you, also the ones above you. As a Non-Commissioned Officer, the best way to lead is to maintain balance between Marine above and below you. Respect is earned. It doesn’t come from you collar.”
Prior to enlisting in 2017, Cpl. Zhu attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, as an architecture major. In the future, he plans to finish his degree and commission as an officer in the Marine Corps.
Cpl. Zhu was selected as this week’s 2nd Marine Division Motivator of The Week for his hard work and dedication in preparing the Regiment to go to MWX.
