EAST CHINA SEA (Oct. 29, 2019) Quartermaster Seaman Isaiah Smith, from Las Vegas, right, receives training from Chief Quartermaster Bradley Beatie, from Tooele, Utah, on the use of a marine sextant to calculate latitude by local apparent noon on the starboard bridge wing of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69). Milius is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
