191028-N-MA259-1001 SASEBO, Japan (Oct. 28, 2019) Builder 3rd Class Lawrence Spears, from Houston, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detail Sasebo, places riprap to repair critical infrastructure damage to the seawall on Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo to further improve the base’s military readiness and capability. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
