SALINA, Kan– Col. Steven Denney, director of Plans and Operations for the Kansas Army National Guard (KSARNG), presents an award to Sgt. Luke Fursman, a horizontal construction engineer assigned to the 242nd Engineering Company, 891st Engineer Battalion for placing first as “Best Non-commissioned Officer of The Year” in the 2019 annual KSARNG Best Warrior Competition that took place at the Great Plains Joint Training Center in Salina, Kansas, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2019. Competitors completed an Army Physical Fitness Test, day and night land navigation, weapons qualification, an Air Assault obstacle course, a call for fire exercise and a ruck march. Additionally, they tested on the new Army Combat Fitness Test.
