Marines of Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, stand at attention as Cpl. Tompkins, the company first sergeant, during a ceremony for the deactivation of MP Co. here, May 25. The company dates back to World War II and was activated as First Guard Company, First Marine Brigade, in November of 1940. The company was deactivated and transferred to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group.
