191026-N-MD802-1096 RED SEA (Oct. 26, 2019) Electronics Technician 3rd Class Robert Rutherford stands Small Craft Action Team watch as an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, attached to the “Proud Warriors” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 72, takes off from the guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) during the ship’s transit through the Straits of Bab al-Mandeb. Farragut is part of the East Coast Surface Action Group and is operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
