Bauernschmidt, Commanding Officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22) and a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, gives a ship tour to members of the International Visitor Leadership Program as part of Fleet Week San Diego (FWSD) 2019. FWSD is an opportunity for the American public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard teams and experience America’s sea services. During fleet week, service members participate in various community service events, showcase capabilities and equipment to the community, and enjoy the hospitality of their homeport of San Diego and its surrounding areas.
