191101-N-XK887-0261 DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory (Nov. 1, 2019) Chief Steelworker Bernard Barbuto, from Alden, New York, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detachment Diego Garcia, primes the pump on a water truck prior to NMCB-5’s Detail Diego Garcia’s first concrete placement. The viscosity of concrete is important to the overall strength, so it is critical to ensure the proper amount of water is added. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
