Feathers from the MAPS Museum Fallen Feathers Memorial are on display during a Veterans Day ceremony at the MAPS Museum, Nov. 9, 2019 in Canton, Ohio. The Fallen Feather project is designed to give honor through remembrance to the Ohio soldiers that we’ve lost during Iraq and Afghanistan, during the war on terrorism. The ceremony, honoring Sonnenberg’s selfless service and sacrifice, included the dedication of an F-16 fighter jet in his name, that will remain on display at the museum. Sonnenberg, an F-16 fighter pilot assigned to the Ohio National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing, was killed in action during a combat mission, June 15, 2007 while serving in Iraq. More than 450 people, including members and retirees of the 180FW came together to honor Sonnenberg and his family for his selfless service and sacrifice.
