John Babick, Submarine Squadron 11’s deputy for undersea rescue, observes as the Royal Australian Navy submarine rescue vessel, LR5, deploys from the Submarine Intervention Gear Ship, MV Stoker, during Exercise Pacific Reach (PACREACH). PACREACH is a triennial, multi-lateral submarine rescue exercise aimed to demonstrate regional Submarine Abandonment and Escape Rescue (SAER) capabilities by conducting simulated submarine rescue missions utilizing the Submarine Rescue Diving Recompression System (SRDRS) and Pressurized Rescue Module (PRM).
