Nurse Vashti Bartlett, a 1906 graduate of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Nursing School, documented her Army service on this helmet. She served as Chief Nurse of Base Hospital #71 in France from August 1918 through April 1919. Fluent in French, Bartlett had initially served in France and Belgium in 1915 with the American Red Cross. After her assignment in France, Bartlett was assigned to Vladivostok, Siberia, as a member of the Siberian Expeditionary Forces (SEF).
