DEVESELU, Romania (Nov. 19, 2019) – U.S. Ambassador to Romania Hans Klemm (right) walks with Col. Răzvan Brătulescu, commanding officer of the Romanian 99th Military Base, during a visit to Naval Support Facility (NSF) Deveselu and the 99th Military Base on Nov. 19, 2019. Klemm hosted ambassadors and senior diplomats from 20 NATO countries for an inside look at how the U.S. Navy and Romanian military work together to sustain operational readiness and protect the Euro-Atlantic region through ballistic missile defense. The visit included a tour of the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) site in Deveselu. NSF Deveselu provides essential support to AAMDS-Romania in core mission areas such as safety, security and quality of life, and works jointly with the Romanian 99th Military Base to ensure the security and safety of the site.
