Officials from both the U.S Navy and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force come together in commemoration of the Battle of Midway during a memorial ceremony held at Naval Air Facility Atsugi's Alliance park. The ceremony was held to pay tribute to the patriotism, perseverance, heroism, and sacrifice of Japanese and Americans alike. The wreaths placed at the foot of each flagpole were a symbol of the respect held for those who served in defense of their countries and were used to represent the friendship and alliance that now stands between the United States and Japan.
