Lt. Cmdr. Ron McGuire, left, Lt. Cmdr. Adnan Jaigirdar and Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Matthew Williams evaluate a 60-year-old patient aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5). The patient was evacuated by a U.S. Coast Guard HH-60J Jayhawk helicopter from Merchant Vessel Horizon Spirit, off the southern coast of California. Peleliu changed course from its integrated training exercise to serve as a refueling station for the helicopter and as a medical evaluation station and stabilization point en route to a higher-level medical facility.
