U.S. Army ROTC cadets from University of California, Santa Barbara, receive California National Guard t-shirts after completing a zodiac boat event, Oct. 26, 2019, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, during the U.S. Army Cadet Command's ROTC Ranger Challenge competition for 8th Brigade's Task Force South. The California Army National Guard's Recruiting and Retention Battalion supported the event as a way to expose cadets to opportunities they have to serve as officers in the Cal Guard once they graduate and commission. The Cal Guard's Company A, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group, provided the boat and two service members to perform safety checks on the cadets' life jackets during the competition.
