Technical Sgt. Tonie Marshall sings during a Tops in Blue performance at the Tays Center June 1. Marshall, a radio frequency transmission craftsman from the 849th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., is one of 35 airmen serving as U.S. Air Force ambassadors in the Air Force's premier expeditionary entertainment unit. The vocalists, musicians, dancers and technicians in the Tops in Blue 2012 tour are scheduled to perform more than 120 shows in 20 different countries this year. Each year, Air Force personnel stationed worldwide compete in a multilevel competition for the opportunity to be selected as a member of the unique unit. The Tops in Blue team is an all active duty Air Force special unit made up of talented performers selected for their entertainment abilities. Since its first world tour in 1953, the group has also performed on film, produced albums, and appeared on national television. This year's performance featured songs by The Doobie Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Whitney Houston, Maroon 5, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, The Zac Brown Band, as well as a tribute to the late Michael Jackson.
