    139th Airlift Wing

    U.S. Airmen with the 139th Airlift Wing Honor Guard, render military funeral honors for Dr. Evan A. Peterson Jr. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, in Wathena, Kansas, Dec. 6, 2019. Peterson is a veteran from World War II, having joined the Navy and being deployed to New Guinea and the Philippines. He was discharged from the Navy in 1946 and pursued a Doctor in Medicine. Peterson retired from the 139th AW as a brigadier general in 1989 after 26 years of service for the Missouri Air National Guard. During that time Peterson served as Missouri State Air Surgeon for nearly a decade. Peterson passed away at the age of 94. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt. Patrick Evenson)
