191209-N-PP451-1011 SANTA RITA, Guam (Dec. 9, 2019) Equipment Operator 2nd Class Melvin Lucero (left) operates the screed while Equipment Operator 3rd Class, both deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detail Guam, drives the asphalt paver to practice sand-laydown operations in preparation of asphalt paving. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
