U.S. Coast Guard Commander Shawn J. Nesser, commanding officer of Coast Guard Port Security Unit (PSU) 301, pins the Guard Port Security Insignia on Petty Officer 1st Class Reynolds, December 18, 2019. The PSU Insignia is a permanent award presented to those who have qualified in the areas of Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS)/basic skills courses for PSUs, serve as a member of a PSU for a given time, and demonstrate practical application of those skills in a PSU setting. The Cape Cod-Reserve based unit is one of eight Coast Guard Port Security Units strategically located throughout the United States. Port Security Units serve as anti-terrorism force protection expeditionary units, with boat crews and shore-side security teams capable of supporting port and waterway security within the United States or anywhere in the world.
