200104-N-BM428-0011 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Jan. 4, 2020) Aviation Structural Mechanic 3rd Class Robert Villaneuva, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 (HSC 23), prepares to perform maintenance on a MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter on the flight deck of the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) while underway. Gabrielle Giffords is on a rotational deployment to INDOPACOM, conducting operations, exercises and port visits throughout the region and working hull-to-hull with allied and partner navies to provide maritime security and stability, key pillars of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
