U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade conduct a gear layout during a Ranger or Sapper candidate assessment course on Caserma Del Din, Italy, Jan. 14, 2019.
After completing the assessment, the paratroopers who participated will be ranked on an order of merit list, determining when they may be able to attend Ranger School or Sapper Leader Course.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to Europe, Africa and Central Commands areas of responsibilities. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
