We asked U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jordan McRae, an ordnance maintenance chief with Marine Corps Installations Pacific, and native of Huntington Beach, California, what makes his job important to the Marine Corps and how his job has affected him personally and professionally.
“Our job is important to the Marine Corps because every Marine is a rifleman, we are here to ensure the safety and lethality of Marines by maintaining and ensuring that these weapons are safe and within standards, everything from the M9A1 9 mm pistols to the 81 mm mortars.”
“Personally, I have gained a lot of attention to detail and knowledge from doing in-depth maintenance. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after the Marine Corps, but once I became an armorer I realized I loved working with my hands and working with weapons," he said.
McRae told us that after he leaves the Marine Corps, he wants to pursue becoming a gunsmith, specializing in competition weapons.
