Poolees with Recruiting Station San Diego, Recruiting Sub Station Temecula, compete in tug-of-war at Camp Pendleton, California, May 17, 2019, as part of the annual poolee function. Every year, Recruiting Station San Diego conducts an annual poolee function to bring poolees together to experience aspects of recruit training in order to provide insight and understanding to what they'll endure during their 13 weeks of training. They also compete for the San Diego Spartan Shield, the shield is earned by the strongest recruiting sub station and poolees. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Bernadette Plouffe)
