SUEZ CANAL (Jan. 14, 2020) - Logistics Specialists 2nd Class Jamil Brassier, right and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Connor Strickland stand the small-craft attack team watch manning a .50-caliber machine gun aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) during a Suez Canal transit in route to the Red Sea, Jan. 14. Carney is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
