Staff Sgt. Randy Camacho, a martial arts instructor trainer with 9th Communication Battalion, congratulates the honor graduate of the martial arts instructor course, Sgt. Geovanie Maldonado with 9th Comm. Bn. at Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 12. Maldonado, a field wireman, was chosen as the honor graduate with a 98.4 percent grade point average. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program is broken down into a series of levels, represented by belts. The first belt a Marine earns is the tan belt, followed by the gray, green, brown and black belts. To train new Marines, instructors must go through the martial arts instructor course.
